The science of biotechnology has come a long way since humans first started domesticating animals and found ways to preserve food. Humans have used the biological processes of micro-organisms for more than 6000 years to make foods such as bread, cheese and other diary products. Egyptians for example, mastered the art of wine making in 4,000 B.C. From those early days biotechnology has continued to evolve over thousands of years. Today biotech firms are at the forefront of finding innovative cures for many of the diseases in the world. The importance of this biotechnology cannot be understated.
