We looked at the The Top 20 Countries that received Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in 2025 recently. In this post, let us review the top countries for FDI outflows – meaning the source countries of FDI. The US remained the top country for both FDI inflow and outflow as well in 2025.

Following the US, Japan was the top country that invested in other countries last year. China was the third though investments declined from 2024. Most of the major economies in Europe are in the above ranking since many of the world’s leading multinational companies are based there. Among the emerging economies, India is also a major FDI source country after China.
