There were 778 homicides in Canada in 2023. This is 14% less than 2023. To put it another way, homicides per 100,000 population in 2023 was 1.94 according to Statcan. The Canadian rate is lower than the US rate in 2023. Last year, the homicide rate in the US was 5.7 per 100,000.
