The World’s 50 Biggest Banks by Assets 2010

The Global Finance magazine has published its annual ranking of the World’s Biggest Banks for 2010 based on assets. BNP Paribas (BNPQY) of France tops the list with total of assets of over $2.9 Trillions.

Six Chinese banks are represented in this ranking. Other these banks from China none of the banks from emerging markets made it to this list.

  1. Another point that might find more interesting is that JPMorgan is 9th on the list. In America, we regard this as one of the largest banks. But on a global scale, is in fact almost half of the major UK banks.

  2. Thats a good point.I think thats because UK banks like Barclays, HSBC have a much more global presence than JPMorgan Chase.I have seen HSBC in pretty much every country I have visited so far. So JPMorgan may be one of the big 4 superbanks here but on a global level they are lower.
